In this first lesson, you’ll learn the basics of pronunciation. Good pronunciation will help you communicate with native speakers. First, you'll learn how to pronounce vowels. French uses the same alphabet as English, and the vowels are the same. Then we'll move on to the consonants. After that, you'll learn about stressing syllables and linking words together.

In your second lesson, you finally get to use all that pronunciation in some real sentences. We'll start with some basic information and a few rules. Then we'll move quickly to common words and some easy sentences. Finally, we'll talk about the weather and introduce numbers.

Today you'll learn numbers.  We'll start off by reviewing what you've already learned. Then we'll move on to the teens and twenties. We'll keep going all the way to a billion! You'll also learn the days and months. Calendars are a little different in France, and you'll learn how to read them. You'll learn words for today and tomorrow. Next, you'll learn how to tell time in French. Time is important to travelers. You don't want to be late for the opera!

Welcome to France! We're finally getting to the exciting part! In this lesson, you'll learn all about transportation. We'll start out at the airport. Then you'll learn words about taxis, buses, trains, and my favorite, the subway.

In this lesson, you'll learn vocabulary and dialogues for all sorts of lodging options.  Hotels are the most popular place for tourists to stay, so we'll spend the most time on them. Next, you'll find out how to talk about other places to stay. First, you'll learn about youth hostels. Then we'll move on to apartments, resorts, and castles. (No, I've never spent the night in a castle, but it would be fun!) You’ll also learn about requesting special items and information.

Today we're going to talk about food. First, you'll learn about different types of French restaurants. Then you'll learn general vocabulary about food and eating out. You'll also learn words for various beverages.

In the seventh lesson, you’ll learn about currency and different types of communication. First, you'll learn about money in France. Then we’ll move on to telephones, the mail, and technology.

In this lesson, you’re going to learn how to talk about shopping in French. First, you’ll learn words that are used in all stores. Then we’ll talk about souvenirs. You can’t go on a trip without buying souvenirs! Next, you’ll learn words for clothes. I’ll teach you a few tips for using French words, too. You’ll also learn names for colors and lots of different kinds of stores.

In Lesson 9, you’re going to learn French for lots of different forms of entertainment.  We’ll start with the radio. Then we’ll move on to television and movies.  You’ll also learn about sports and beaches.  Then we’ll talk about the circus and fairs. Finally, you’ll learn about zoos and amusement parks.

Today we’re going to talk about more entertainment options. We’ll focus on cultural tourist spots. We’ll start with museums and then move on to castles and cathedrals. France is famous for its castles, and everyone should see at least one. Then we’ll talk about the theater. You’ll learn words for plays, musicals, operas, and concerts.

In this lesson, you’re going to learn about emergencies. I hope you’ll never need to use this lesson. Life is unpredictable, though. It’s helpful to familiarize yourself with these words. Then, to lighten things up a little, we’ll be talking about French phrases. You’ll learn exclamations, as well as a few French proverbs and idioms.

In your final lesson, we’ll start our review. We’ll go over a few key points, such as pronunciation and linking words. You’ll even get a little more practice on those cumbersome nasal vowels. Then, you’ll learn how to make your own sentences. I’ll teach you some simple sentences. All you have to do is plug in the word you need.  Next, you’ll learn how to ask questions, and we'll cover a little sentence structure. Finally, you’ll learn some fun slang.

In this lesson, you'll see the power of Photoshop with quick corrections and the ability to crop and rotate your images. You'll like the new Crop tool in CS6! We'll also discuss the various file formats for digital images and how to use them to your best advantage.  You'll learn how to make changes and save different versions of your images so you'll have everything you need for future editing.

As we continue our study of Photoshop, you'll learn how to prepare your documents for printing.  To get the best quality print, you want to be sure that each image is the right size and resolution.  We'll define terms, explore menus, and look at ways for you to be sure your prints will be just the right size.  You'll see how to use the Crop tool with more control and feel confident about printing when you finish this lesson.

Whether you want to use your image on a website, in an email, or for a large print, you need to be sure the size is right.  If it's for the Web, you'll want it small enough to load quickly, but still sharp and clear.  If you need an enlarged print, you'll want to be sure it has all the quality of the original.  This can be a stumbling block for some new Photoshop users, so we'll take our time and practice with several images to help you learn all the steps. We'll also go over how to use Photoshop's tools for artistic cropping so your images are both artistically and technically the best they can be.

One of the most powerful features in Photoshop is layers, and in this lesson, you'll have a chance to create a new file and copy another image into it, exploring the basics of layers as you go.  You'll also see how to set color options for many of the Photoshop features and adjust color in your images.

As you continue to build your knowledge of layers in this lesson, you'll also see how to work with color.  Photoshop has a huge palette of color options that you can use in your images, and the color tools are amazing!  You'll see how to easily replace, brighten, and enhance color, and even remove it for stunning black-and-white work.  These features are among the many sought-after highlights of Photoshop, but beware!  You may find yourself tinkering with images even after the lesson is over.

Even if you don't shoot in raw image format, Photoshop has a set of sophisticated editing tools for you to use!  Camera Raw is Photoshop's editor for processing raw images, giving you the opportunity to adjust white balance and exposure in all kinds of file formats, and leaving your images with startling clarity and dynamic color.  In today's lesson, you'll see how to adjust your images quickly and easily, just like a pro.  If you're not quite sure what raw files are or if they're something you'd like to use, we'll walk you through the process, and you can decide what's best for your type of work.  Either way, you'll learn more about Photoshop and what it can do for you!

Mixing words and pictures is an important part of digital photography, and Photoshop gives you lots of ways to make your text as dazzling as your pictures.  In this lesson, we'll explore Photoshop's text tools, and you'll find out how to add text to your images, including the new text preview option in CS6. You'll also begin your study of the powerful selection tools, with the Quick Selection tool, the color-based Magic Wand tool, and the flexible Lasso tool.

As we continue our study of selection tools, today you’ll learn how to create silhouettes and creative backgrounds to set them off.   You’ll see how the Marquee tools let you select perfect squares and circles for use in framing and highlighting your images.  You'll practice using feathering to see the difference it makes, especially when you want to create a soft, blended background in your image.   You'll also see how to use the Marquee tool to create borders and frames around your pictures.  To wrap up our study of the selection tools, we'll also explore the many options in the Select menu.

In our last lesson on the selection tools, you’ll work with a combination of tools for detailed and exacting work when you need it most.   You'll also learn some advanced techniques for using the selection tools together.   We'll work extensively with the Add to selection option and see some shortcuts for making selections easier.  As a final addition to your knowledge in this area, you’ll have a chance to explore and work with features on the Select menu.

In our last lesson, you'll learn how to put many new tools to work! We’ll discuss Retouching and Correcting tools, and you’ll perfect your skills with the Red Eye tool, the Clone Stamp tool, and both of the powerful Healing Brushes.  We'll also discuss when to use each tool for the best results.  The power of Photoshop will come to life as you use these tools in your final assignments.
